In collaboration with the Guaraní indigenous communities of Jujuy, Argentina. Along route 34, in the south-east section of the province of Jujuy, a number of unknown Guaraní indigenous communities fight for their culture to be acknowledged. They are fighting for their rights: to be able to work, to return and to own their ancestral land, to teach their native tongue to their children and grandchildren.

A film crew travels route 34 and shares with these indigenous communities their carnival celebration: the preparations, the “unburial”, the “chicha” made of corn, the masks, the dance, the fight between the tiger and the bull, the “burial”. In the heat of February, the circle spins with the sound of drums, and the wheel of time reverses its sense: the past, remembered in the present, brings with it the possibility of a different future. To dance until pain is ejected from within, to manifest themselves until their existence is recognised, to insist on survival: arete guazu, pin-pin, candabare, late summer celebration.
