And Still We Rise follows the courage and tenacity of Ugandan LGBT activists, as they fought the anti-gay bill in their country and demanded a voice. They feared for their lives, says co-director Nancy Nicol, yet they stood up and even organized a Pride parade. Nicol purposefully worked with Ugandan partners to turn over control of the filming to them, so they could tell their story in their own words. o
