BIO : Sheena Hoszko
Sheena Hoszko est une sculptrice vivant et travaillant sur le territoire Tio'tia:ke, Kanien'kehá:ka (Montréal). Sa pratique artistique examine les dynamiques de pouvoir des sites géographiques et architecturaux et est nourrie par les expériences de sa famille face à l’incarcération et l’armée. Elle a étudié à l’Université d’Art et Design Emily Carr et a obtenu un MFA de l’Université Concordia où elle a reçu un financement du CRSH pour sa recherche sur le féminisme et le post-minimalisme.
Ses expositions solo incluent le Centre Clark et La Centrale (Montréal), A Space (Toronto), Artspace (Peterborough), The New Gallery (Calgary) et Forest City Gallery (Londres, 2018)
Sheena Hoszko is a Polish Québécois artist who lives and works in Mooniyang/Tiohtià:ke (Montréal). Hoszko is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the Cultural Studies program at Queen's University and holds a BFA and MFA in Sculpture from Concordia University. Her current research traces artmaking in prison as it relates to prisoner resistance in so-called Canada.
Hoszko has exhibited nationally and internationally at the Musée d'art contemporain and Fondation Phi (Montréal) A Space and Blackwood (Toronto), the Queen's Museum (NYC), and La Ferme du Buisson (Paris). Her writing has appeared in MICE Magazine and Free Inside: The Life and Work of Peter Collins. A longtime anti-prison organizer, Hoszko works within abolitionist collectives from coast to coast.
