BIO : Marie-Lou Béland

Marie-Lou Béland est une cinéaste (Réalisatrice-Monteuse) engagée qui souhaite défoncer et dénoncer les préjugés encore trop présents dans notre société. C’est par l’entremise de sa caméra qu’elle exprime sa vision du monde.

Débutant sa carrière comme éducatrice spécialisée, son passé dans le milieu social teinte ses créations et son désir d’aller à la rencontre de l’autre. Elle débute dans le monde du cinéma par passion et de façon autodidacte pour finalement compléter un Bac en cinéma à l’UQAM et plusieurs formations professionnelles, notamment à l’INIS. 

Son plus grand souhait est de contribuer à un milieu cinématographique (paritaire et équitable) créatif et vivant.

Marie-Lou Béland is a committed filmmaker (Director-Editor) who aims to break down and denounce the prejudices still prevalent in our society. It is through her camera that she expresses her vision of the world.

Starting her career as a specialized educator, her background in the social sector influences her work and fuels her desire to connect with others. She began her journey in cinema out of passion and in a self-taught manner, eventually completing a Bachelor's degree in cinema at UQAM, along with several professional training programs, notably at INIS.

Her greatest wish is to contribute to a creative and vibrant cinematic environment that is both equitable and balanced.
