BIO : Iphigénie Marcoux-Fortier

Iphigénie Marcoux-Fortier est née et a grandi à St-Norbert, village situé dans la région de Lanaudière, qu’elle quitte à l’âge de 17 ans pour poursuivre ses études à Montréal. D’abord attirée par le domaine des sciences de la nature, elle bifurque vers les communications au niveau universitaire et termine un baccalauréat, profil multimédia interactif à l’UQÀM, au cours duquel elle étudie un an à Londres en technologie des médias et en arts médiatiques. Aussi, durant ces études, Iphigénie participe à la scénarisation, à la réalisation, à la production et à la performance des œuvres interactives Corpus Delicti et Anamorphases. Depuis la fin de ses études de premier cycle, Iphigénie travaille sur différents projets, entre autres à la création de l’organisme de diffusion en arts médiatiques Dans l’ champ. Elle donne des ateliers vidéo à des jeunes du Mont St-Antoine, centre d’accueil dans l’est de Montréal et travaille aux Productions Multi-Monde comme coordonnatrice de la tournée Musiques rebelles Américas. Pendant cette même période, elle coréalise et coproduit le moyen métrage documentaire Quand reviens-tu? et s’intéresse de plus en plus aux implications du film ethnographique.

Iphigénie Marcoux-Fortier was born and raised in St-Norbert, a village located in the Lanaudière area which she left at 17 to pursue her studies in Montreal. Initially attracted by natural sciences, she forked towards the communications field during her university education and completed a B.A. in interactive multi-media at UQÀM, during the course of which she studied one year in media technology and media arts in London, England.
During these studies, Iphigénie took part in scripting, directing, producing and performing in the interactive artistic works Corpus Delicti and Anamorphases. She then worked on various projects, such as the implementation of Dans l’champ, an organization engaged into broadcasting media arts. She gave video workshops to the youths of the Mont St-Antoine centre in the east of Montreal and worked with Productions Multi-Monde as coordinator of Rebel Music Americas on Tour.
During the same period of time, she co-directed and co-produced the medium-length documentary film When are you coming back? , for which she carried out a tour in Mexico. Iphigénie is now engaged in a Master’s Degree in anthropology in order to pursue a more in-depth study of the ethnographical film.
