BIO : Älva Jouband-Uusitalo

Älva Jouband-Uusitalo, passionné·e de culture et d’histoire, est un·e artiste folklorique queer, multidisciplinaire et engagé·e dans sa communauté.
Français·e (originaire du Forez, Loire), suédois·e et lantalainen, Älva est né·e à Montreuil (France) en 1999. Iel a vécu à l’île de La Réunion et en Nouvelle-Calédonie/Kanaky durant son enfance, puis au Canada pendant 18 ans.
En 2021, Älva obtient une licence en microbiologie et immunologie, avec une mineure en anthropologie, à l’Université de la Saskatchewan. Impliqué·e dans le milieu du cinéma depuis 2022, Älva réalise en 2025 son premier court métrage, Tulomatka : Le chemin du retour, produit de manière indépendante et sans financement, afin de mettre en lumière l’histoire et l’identité de la minorité ethnique lantalainen du nord de la Suède, à laquelle iel appartient.

Älva Jouband-Uusitalo, passionate about culture and history, is a queer multidisciplinary and community-based folk artist. Älva is French (from Forez/Loire), Swedish, and Lantalainen, born in Montreuil, France, in 1999. They lived in Réunion Island and New Caledonia/Kanaky during their childhood and then in Canada for 18 years. They earned a bachelor's degree in microbiology and immunology and a minor in anthropology from the University of Saskatchewan (2021). Involved in the film industry since 2022, Älva made their first short film independently and without funding in 2025, Tulomatka: Le chemin du retour (The Way Home), to highlight the history of their Lantalainen ethnic minority identity from northern Sweden.
