Montreal videomaker, radio host/producer and raconteur with a taste for the absurd. Has been working in video since 1991. She is a performer whose Sick World Series has been shown internationally. Collaborates with dancer/choreographer Sarah Williams on dance videos. 1998 : codirected Choir Girls with NFB filmmaker Patricia Kearns, a documentary about Montreal womens choir Choeur Maha. That year she plays the lead in Big Girl Town, a video by Montrealer Anne Golden. 1997 : wrote and performed in the film Sheepcalls and Shoplifters by independent producer Attila Bertalan, based on the Sick World series. Montreal Mirror critic Matthew Hayes cited her as a dyke version of Spalding Grey. Well known to Montreal audiences as a regular host of the CKUT-FM radio show Dykes on Mykes. She is the workshop coordinator at StudioXX, a womens digital media centre; with them, she developed a radio documentary on the use of technology as a tool for social change. Currently working on Exercise in Everyday Life, a video focussing on issues of the body. |
