Sheila James
Sheila James is a theatre director, writer, composer, videographer and performer that can be spotted under cover as her lounge lizard/alter ego Jimmy Susheel. Active in feminist and antiracist organising Sheila has facilitated popular/political theatre workshops throughout Canada and in London, England and Hyderabad, India. Artistic director of two community theatre groups; Street Theatre in Toronto and the Rice Girls Performance Group in Vancouver. Participated in several performance festivals including Desh Pardesh, Nightwood Theatre's Groundswell Festival, Women in View and Re-Inventing the Diva Festival. She is the former artistic co-director of the Company of Sirens. Her writing has been published in Aurat Durbar (an anthology of south Asian's Women's Writing), Canadian Theatre Review, Trikone and other journals. |
