This piece centres around a projected drawing that unfolds in time,
as my hand draws on an overhead projector. Images emerge, then
transform or dissolve: places become inhabited, figures disappear
into the darkness, and at times my shadow becomes another figure
in the layers of stories.
I tried to capture the palpable yet elusiveness of the
drawing-improvisation, and how this gesture acts as an analogy for
the imagining of history, for the lapses in memory or understanding.
The sound is a collage of my voice, explorations with rusty cans,
and found material (recordings made in Estonia, including a group of traditional Setu singers).
