for the centennial celebration of the abolition of slavery in Brazil.
Far from an anniversary salute, it reveals the pervasiveness
of prejudice against Blacks in a society
that sees itself as a racial democracy.
The tape explores both the diversity of Black culture
and its profound influence on/and appropriation by White society.
